If your defination of "occasional" means every once a week and maybe some more after a few days, well, you will be in trouble of gaining excess fat. If in the case that you are having it once every couple of months and that you are physically fit and consuming lots of healthy food such as vegetables, whole grains, nuts and all the rest of the healthy and nutritional food on most other days, you will be fine and have less worry on gaining the excess fat. Always remember to go for at least a 90 minute walk after indulging in those fatty foods.
While it may be true that shellfish is high in cholesterol, and just a couple of ounces of shrimp gives you more than 30% of your daily cholesterol. However, shrimp contains low saturated fat. Saturated fat is the main cause of artery-clogging bad cholesterol. Shrimp also has a low quantity of heart healthy omega 3. Some researchers found that consuming shellfish like shrimp, tends to reduce the risk of heart attack by 59%.
Truth : It is really the direct opposite. Starchy vegetables and bread (i.e. whole grain) are actually quality carbs that you needed to provide fuel or energy to every part of your body, from your brain to your muscles. The thing that brings you into trouble is the way you eat them. If you smear butter on a slice of whole-wheat bread or even just a simple deep-fring on the potatoes and you can actually double, triple, or quadruple the calories. So, before you actually look on further to add on those butter or deep frying food into your body, think again.
